55+ BC Games Experience
Calendar of Events
Attending the 55+ BC Games is more than just competing in your sport. You become part of a community of participants. Throughout Games Week there are a number of events that will give you the true “Multi-Sport Games Experience”. The following events are cornerstone to the 55+ BC Games experience. The BC Seniors Games Society Board of Directors sets the days for these events, including days of play for each sport. The Host Society determines the location, content, format and finer details for each event.
Participant Accreditation is held on Tuesday and Wednesday during Games week. All registered participants are required to attend the Accreditation Centre to pick up their participant accreditation badge and package the day before competition in their sport begins. Participants are required to check in with their respective zone tables first and then attend their sport tables. All participants are required to have a participant accreditation badge in order to compete. All registered supporters also attend the Accreditation Centre during the hours of operation to pick up their accreditation badge.
The Games Village is held on Tuesday and Wednesday during Games week and is usually located in close proximity to the Accreditation Centre. The Games Village is designed to showcase the Host Community with activities and local vendors. It’s your introduction to the Host Community and all it has to offer. Come enjoy the sights and sounds.
The Opening Ceremony and Parade of Participants is held on Wednesday evening during Games week at 7:00 pm. The ceremony has traditional elements of a multi-sport Games and the Host Community will add their own particular flair with local entertainment. A highlight is the Parade of Participants, when participants march into the event wearing their zone colours and/or team uniforms. The evening culminates with the official opening of the Games and lighting of the Torch.
Depending on the sport, competitions start on either Wednesday or Thursday and run for 2, 3 or 4 days. Get the most of your experience at the Games, cheer on the participants at another sport!
Please refer to the sport page for competition days for your specific sport. Sport pages can be found here.
