It’s Membership Renewal Time
January 5, 2018
On behalf of Zone 2 of the BC Seniors Games Society, Happy New Year to all our members! We hope you had a wonderful Holiday Season with family and friends.
It is time to think about and prepare for the 2018 Games being held in the joint communities of Kimberley and Cranbrook. If you are planning to attend the Games this year, you will be taking out your BC Seniors Games Society Membership, ( it’s the $20 you submit along with your Participation Fee).
If you are not planning on going to the Games this year, we strongly encourage you to continue your membership and simply submit the paperwork and $20. Each year our Zone applies for a Gaming Grant, and over the years, we have been successful in obtaining funding from the Gaming Commission to help offset our expenses in order to help you, our members, go to the Games.
The Grant submission and funding that is approved for our Zone is very dependent on the following factors, namely,
1). That the Zone shows initiative in getting out into the community and making it aware of what the Seniors Games are all about.
2). Raising funds through sponsorships to help offset costs incurred by the Zone and which are not covered by the Gaming Grant.
3). Maintaining and hopefully increasing our membership base year over year.
The funds we received in the past have allowed our Zone to pay for Sport Fees, Uniforms, Play down expenses, and travel assistance to get you to the Games. As you can see, we need your support with membership to continue to help you. So please retain your membership for 2018 so that when we apply for our Grant in 2019, we will have sufficient membership numbers to assist with our application. Our membership base is important because without it, we will face serious cutbacks to the Zone which will have to be passed on to you. You can either give the forms and Membership Fee to your Sports Coordinator, or simply mail it to the Zone Registrar, Mary Sluyter, 2960 Marshall Road, Qualicum Beach, BC V9K 2A1.
We thank you in advance for your continued support of the BC Seniors Games Society and Zone 2.
